About Time

Well, it’s been a long time . . .

. . . the clocks just went back, and I just got an email from Gabriel DeKadt our man in España, apologising for taking so long to send his pics from New Year’s Eve . . .

me

. . . hopefully this will spur me on to edit and upload various seriously backlogged cubelogy things from January ( Dudley Sutton – come on ! ) and on ( Love Science at least ! ), and before and beyond the Cube ( the Drawathon at Here in late 2006 – what’s taking you so long ! ).

Meanwhile in a Richie P style, with Gabs wielding the camera I am given an opportunity to post many pics of myself . . .

me

. . . and some more . . .

me

. . . chatting in the centre top one there to Strangeways from the time-travelling good Vexkiddy, who ( along with playing Bristol Meth, which I guess I should cover here too ), was played on Radio 1 last night, as were Big Joan on Huw Stephens. The Computer’s been getting about a bit on One too, infiltrating his way out of the post-midnight hours with a week’s worth of appearances on Colin Murray‘s show.

Meanwhile, golden fools, there’s a new batch of Cube Cola being cooked up on the afternoon of April the First . . . help, company and camera people all welcome . . . however much time it takes you to eventually upload . . .

The Cube Cabaret!!

And some more sketches and a photo or two from

The First Ever Cube Vaudeville, Zuleika Ziegfeld’s Cabaret of Curiosities

David Bouillabaisse
David Bouilabaisse trained with the Dave Fish Theatre Company before dedicating himself to the art of legerdemain.
A great performance.

The Dressing Up Box

Ziegfeld and Kirby talk big
We discuss the next Cabaret.

Lounge
That bloke who danced all night, lounging.

Mirrors
Zuleika Ziegfeld, after several Rums, gets home to take her own photo and record the prosperity of The Lashes

A tonne of thanks to rest of the Cabaret, especially the super hard working Bella Bel, the amazing performers including the fandabulous Scarlet Vixens and all those in attendence.

The Lashes

[sub]ps. can we have a Cabaret Category?[/sub]

Some Sketches

A Magical Cupcake of E-Number Delights
As you can see from David’s post below, this wonder was created with
five tubes of Writing Icing (thanks to Bristol City Council funding).

We love Cafe Kino
On a Saturday afternoon. With Hoppo, James, Amy and myself.

Cube Dancing
16th february 2007, this was the Light Fantastic/Chris Corsano night. Myself and Richie instigated a mini-party,
my favourite thing ever.

Circus Folk by Zuleika
Nothing to do with the Cube, but a sketch of some Circus characters.

A Cabaret of Curiosities…tomorrow

Unless you are being tempted by the electro and gold paved streets of the metropolis,
in which case ‘hur-umph!’,
you are sure to be entranced by tomorrow nights diversionary, delusionary delights by twilight….

Sat 24th / 7.30pm / £6/5
Drinks discounts for the fabulously attired.

Roll up! Roll up! Miss Zuleika Ziegfield and her rakish entourage bring you the
highs of the musical theatre, the lows of the Vaudeville stage, and all places
inbetween – a razzle-dazzle cavalcade of musical entertainments for the
knowingly low-brow, with accompanying dance, acrobatics, legerdemain and similar
diversionary delights.

Featuring the Scarlet Vixens, Idiosync Acro, David Bouillabaisse, Chimaera Fire Show, Zuleika’s Cabinet of Curiosities and musical delights from Richie Paradise.

Positively for this night only!

You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.

Movieoke on over darlin’

Movieoke FunMovieoke
Well friends We managed another evening of Movieoke madness, a frighteningly ever changing animal that thankfully enough of us want to keep coming (hey it even got a mention in Bizarre magazine so we must be doing something right). This time usual host Tom had to leave early to do his paper round, i mean DJ at The Bell so the good people of the audience had to endure a mixture of yours truely and Barry. Sterling work by all I’d say. Anyhow some fine performances, a moment where the peformer was dumbstruck at the beauty of Star Wars and couldn’t say anything, a great performance by Creepy Liam in The Shining, My amazing performance playing 3 people using 2 hats in that scene from Lost In Translation where he does the advert for <a href="“>Suntory Whisky (cutto, cutto, cutto!), a utterly mental version of Groundhog Day (all acusations of sexual preferences by Mr. Grant are all allegedly true but may or not be actually true, Cube Legal team) a fine performance of The Evil Dead

Also a fine ensemble peformance of Reservoir Dogs featuring Me, Barry, a guy called Simon I think (who looked marvellous in a short sleaved Cricket Jumper). I was rather guilty of going a little bit off on one and may have been rude about half the audience, the performers and ahem women in comfortable shoes. Still if you listen the audience is laughing (especially Oli who you can hear Guffawing away in all the video clips) so it must be ok.

well a fine time was had by all, the drssing up box was put away and we all tottered off to our abodes,

Thanks for listening, Big Love Richie Paradise Richie (Lost in) Paradise

Pandora’s Box

Where are we?Marcus and Richard Cube Orchestra
A while ago The Cube Orchestra had the good fortune to be asked to play a live soundtrack to the legendary Die Busche der Pandora also known as Pandora’s Box
It’s a really superb film and features the stunning and enigmatic Louise Brooks. Interesting enough The Cube’s own Zulieka Gregory bears a vaguely similar look (she’ll love me for saying that) which made playing along an amusing experience. Zuleika also came along and did her Blusherette Thang

The Film was very atmospheric, moody and very interesting in it’s edgy for the time subject matter and a large and appreciative audience enjoyed the film and score.
Pandora's BoxPandora's Box
I only caught 11 seconds on video but it’s worth all eleven seconds

A great time was had by all, even the bar staff but I wouldn’t mes with them..

hey, You’re Beautiful and dontcha ferget itRichie Paradise Richie Paradise
